Stories about Facebook '"taking on LinkedIn" have been floating around for a couple of years now, but this seems to be a more concerted attempt by the networking giant to move into the jobs arena.
And why wouldn't they - Facebook's reach dwarfs that of LinkedIn and it would seem to be an obvious move.
That said, despite many members expressing their dissatisfaction at the 'new look' of their beloved LinkedIn, they still have a hard core following - a lot of whom are very quick to express their dislike of 'Facebook-like' posts on the site.
So it will be interesting to watch how LinkedIn develops itself and attempts to keep its current position as the 'leading' business social networking platform despite Facebook's move into their space.
"We're focused on building new ways to help make it easier for businesses to interact with the over 1 billion people visiting Pages every month," the company said in a statement. "Businesses and people already use Facebook to fill and find jobs, so we're rolling out new features that allow job posting and application directly on Facebook."
